Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director; Mary McCann, Atlantic School Executive Director) hosted their 25th Anniversary Spring Gala last night, on Monday, April 12, 20010 at Gotham Hall.
The evening included cocktails and music, followed by dinner, star studded performance and live auction.
Proceeds from the Gala will benefit Atlantic Theater Company Productions and Arts Education Outreach programs including “Atlantic for Kids” children’s productions and Atlantic’s in-classroom “Students and Educators” series, which serves over 3,000 New York City public school students annually. Atlantic’s goal is to help teachers cultivate the next generation of theater artists, audiences, and most importantly, critical thinkers and writers.
Co-founded by David Mamet and William H. Macy, Atlantic Theater Company is the award-winning Off-Broadway theater dedicated to producing great plays simply and truthfully utilizing an artistic ensemble. Since 1985, Atlantic has produced more than 130 plays, including the hit musical Spring Awakening. After receiving its world premiere on Atlantic’s main stage, it transferred to Broadway and won eight Tony Awards® including Best Musical, and is now touring Europe and Asia.
Over the last twenty five years, Atlantic Theater Company has consistently produced high-quality, critically acclaimed, garnering 12 Tony Awards®, 11 Lucille Lortel Awards, 14 Obie Awards, 5 Outer Critics Circle Awards, 7 Drama Desk Awards, 5 Drama League Awards, one Drama Critics Circle Award, one Theatre World Award and one Dramatists Guild Award. Last season Atlantic was honored with a special Drama Desk Award for Body of Work, honoring Atlantic’s “exceptional craftsmanship, dedication to excellence and productions that engage, inspire and enlighten.”
