Michael with EMA for National Public Lands Day

The 9th Annual National Public Lands Day was September 28, 2002. EMA helped publicize this event at MacArthur Park and an estimated 70,000 people nationwide joined in the largest volunteer effort to refurbish, restore and clean up our public lands. All this to benefit our parks, rivers, wetlands, lakes, forests, beaches and other beloved areas. Celebrities Michael T. Weiss, Vinessa Shaw and Hart Bochner spoke about the importance of public lands and volunteering. They also planted trees with local participants. The national Environmental Education & Training Foundation estimated that $8 million in improvements was provided that day nationwide.
